Lockhart is the Associate Director of the Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts, KY GSA. Since 2021 she has played a vital role in planning and facilitating the largest tuition free Governor’s School in the United States, including the 2022 expansion that has allowed GSA to serve over 500 young Kentuckian artists every year since. She is a recent graduate of the Leadership Louisville Center’s The Alice Houston Women’s Leadership Program. 

She holds two bachelor’s degrees from Wesleyan College, the first college in the world chartered to grant degrees to women.  Her degrees are in Theatre and Communication. She also has an MFA from The University of Louisville. When not at GSA, Paula is an active educator and theatre artist. She has taught at Commonwealth Theatre Center (CTC) and Louisville’s only HBCU, Simmons College of Kentucky. Her directorial credits include: A Raisin in The SunFairviewAugust: Osage County, and Before It Hits Home.
